This week I have mostly worked on the synthesizer part. It is mainly just a few chords over and over agian but I needed to get the rhythms right more than anything.

This week I have practiced the bass guitar part a lot. It is not difficult but I want it to sound really good when I record it. I also have been messing around with the different amp settings and trying to find the best sounding ones. I will probably start to work on the synthesizer part next week because I would guess that it will be either the hardest or second hardest part. I feel like I am falling a little behind due to the amount of schoolwork I have had recently. I guessed this would happen at some point and I need to work hard to stay on track. This week I've worked on the drum set part some more. I think I'll be able to finish it by next week. It not that hard for me because of my experience but I still could do better. I need to continue recording and editing in order to gain more experience with that. I will probably continue to work on the guitar part in about two weeks because I'm getting a litte caught up on some stuff. I will need to tune my drums some so that they sound similar to the song's drums. That will take me about a week as well.
This week I havent gotten through much because I ran into a couple problems. I had to take my bass to the shop because the neck was warped and it wouldn't tune correctly. This didn't take awfully long but I did have to go run by and grab it so I could continue learning my parts. I have started working a little on the synthesizer part but it is pretty difficult. I'm going to try and complete the drum set part in the next two weeks but I may need a little more time than that depending on how hard it turns out to be. The only part I'm worried about not being able to finish on time is the guitar part. It is very difficult and once I've learned it, I will have to make sure I can play it all the way through and that it sounds good. One thing's for sure, this song is a little harder than I expected. I think that as long as I practice hard and consistantly, I'll be able to finish it. It will just take a lot of work.
This week I have worked on learning the bass guitar part for Heaven. It was very easy to learn the basic notes but I will soon be working on the more advanced style in order to make the song more interesting. I am hoping to start learning the drum set part this coming week. I do not believe that the drum part will be that hard, but I haven't really looked at it yet. The synthesizer/keyboard part is the one I'm worried the most about though. I also believe that I've started to acquire some of the knowledge that I will need for recording and editing. I cant wait to begin making the final product but I still have a lot of practice to do.
This week I have worked on learning the parts to Heaven. I haven't made a bunch of progress so far, but I have learned the basic way to play some of the intro on guitar. It wasn't too dificult, but I feel like it will become that way pretty soon. I cant wait to continue learning more of this song. The guitar I have chosen to use to play this is my American Fender Stratocaster. You can see this guitar in my pictures I have posted, and the videos I have posted and will post in the future. It is a very well manufactured guitar that was made in the United States. When you play it, it feels like you are playing an extremly high quality guitar and it sounds amazing. It has great sound quality both when you use the drive feature on an amp and if you just want a clean sound. I think it was the perfect guitar choice for the song I picked. Here is a sample of what I have learned so far. For my Genius Hour Project, I have chosen to learn the song Heaven by Los Lonely Boys. I think they are an amazing band. I could sit down and listen to them for hours and not get tired of it. Heaven is one of their greatest hits and I think it is a great song for any time or mood. For this song I will have to learn an electric guitar part, an electric bass guitar part, a drum set part, a synthesizer/keyboard part, and possibly the vocal part. I am still working out the plans for the vocals. I may have a friend with a better voice sing it with me, or I may have the recording do the vocals and myself play the instruments. Here is the original song for you to check out. |
